Mortgage, Protection & Equity Release Adviser
I am experienced in most types of mortgage, so I can provide detailed mortgage planning advice to my clients. In my advisory career I have chosen to focus on mortgages advice rather than investment and pension planning as I believe it is important to focus on one area of advice in order to be an expert and to be able to maintain that level of knowledge and expertise in a constantly changing industry.

John was extremely helpful. His knowledge of the industry is unparalleled. We explained our situation, initially over the phone, and then he came to visit us. He asked for some documents which we provided, and he did almost everything for us. He chose the right lenders for our situation; for both our remortgage and new mortgage, he chose the great solicitors, good surveyors etc. for us. In a nutshell, he did everything needed and all we did was to provide documentation and sit and wait while everything was done for us by John.A of Milton Keynes
John came to our home and discussed the various options open to us. He was hugely knowledgeable and his manner exceptional, we felt comfortable to discuss all aspects of our personal finance with him. He seemed impartial, unbiased and genuinely keen to try and offer us the best advice for what we wanted to do.B of Colchester
I started working in the financial sector with Barclays in 2000. After many years working in retail banking I wanted to become an adviser and began my career as a mortgage adviser with a whole of market mortgage brokerage firm in 2014 with Mortgages First Ltd in Colchester. During my time with them I handled many different types of mortgages but the emphasis being within the newbuild sector.
In 2018, I moved to Charles Derby Mortgage Bureau as a self-employed adviser. It was important to me to have more autonomy over the number clients I advise each month, allowing me to spend more time with each client and providing excellent service as a result. I believe building good relationships with and providing the best service provides the right outcomes for my clients, helping them to achieve their goals is my paramount concern.
During my time with Charles Derby Mortgage Bureau, I completed my studies for my certified equity release qualification, enabling me to advise on a broader range of mortgages including lifetime mortgages and retirement interest only mortgages.
I live in Essex with my wife, daughter and two rescued greyhounds (Penny & Harley). When I am not busy working or walking my dogs, I like to practice martial arts or relax by playing guitar and reading
I gained the certificate in Mortgage Advice and Planning in 2012 and have subsequently added the certificate in Regulated Equity Release to enable me to provide specialist advise on all types of mortgage including lifetime mortgages.
