I am experienced in most areas of mortgage work so there is not much I cannot do. I believe specialising is the way forward though, as market complexity has increased in recent years making it quite difficult to be expert at everything.

I have held several advisory roles over my 26-year career from Life assurance consultant for; Liberty Life, being a directly authorised mortgage broker, mortgage broker with Julian Harris Mortgages and now a Whole of Market Mortgage and Protection Adviser for CDMB.

I began my advisory career in advising in specialist mortgages. This was pre- 2007 and I quickly obtained knowledge/ experience in helping people who had difficult circumstances to obtain mortgage finance. For example clients who had a previous history of credit issues Following the financial crash of 2007, I left the industry, however, clients who did not qualify for mortgage finance with one of the traditional high street banks, were still contacting me for help/advice. After a short sabbatical, I have returned to the mortgage industry. I find it most satisfying and I strongly believe we should all enjoy what we do. I like helping my customers purchase their first or second homes, protect themselves from debt and ownership worries and ensure they are setup for whatever life may bring to their door.

I have grown up children and now grandchildren; I live in The West Midlands. I love that I have grown up with many of my clients and it is rewarding to me that children of my clients are now approaching me for mortgage help/advice. When I first started in the mortgage industry, I informed my clients that I would be accompanying on their financial journey. I have kept my word because I am now qualified to be able to give advice on equity release solutions for clients aged 55+. I can give mortgage advice/help to clients that are aged between 18 -100 years.

Qualifications

I have a Mortgage Advice Qualification, the precursor to the Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice, today’s equivalent and Equity Release (CeRER) qualification.
